How To Create A Fully Interactive Blog For Your Readers

Posted by Rmatuk in Growth Topics

Blogs are incredibly simple to set up and maintain, and can be added to an existing website, used alone, or created using publishing tools such as TypePad, Blogger and Wordpress. If you are new to blogging, you may want to either hire someone to create and update your blog entries for you, or utilize the free publishing platforms that are available.

Corporate blogs should provide useful and interesting content, but content is an area where many corporate blogs fall short. Many organizations make the mistake of focusing their blog entries on information that is not engaging or relevant to the public, such as job opening announcements, financial information, and press releases. The goal of your blog should be to connect with your audience, and the only way to do that is to speak about issues that are important and relevant to their lives.

You should make every effort to create a fully interactive blog for your readers:

1. Enable trackbacks, and encourage visitors to leave comments and participate in the conversation.

2. Read their feedback, respond to their concerns, and target your posts in areas that seem to attract the most attention.

3. Learn to use tags for your blog content, as it will enable visitors to find your content more easily and will allow your blog pages to be discovered and sorted properly by search engines.

4. Blog content should be updated frequently to improve search results and give readers a reason to return.

5. Include useful or entertaining links to other sources of information with your blog entries.

6. Allow your visitors the option of adding RSS feeds of your content directly to their website or blog. Your goal is to increase the visibility of your brand, so anything that encourages the spread of your content should be encouraged.

7. Widgets, which are bits of code embedded in image files, are a good way of increasing traffic to both your blog and website, and can provide useful information to your readers.

8. You can design your own widget to include your business or blog name, your logo, or any other image of your choosing.

9. Visitors to your blog will be able to download your widget and add it to their own website, which will result in higher traffic numbers and increased brand visibility.

10. You can also add style and functionality to your blog by adding other widgets to your pages. Widgets of this type can be used to share recommended books, videos, or other information.

11. Reading and commenting on blogs that offer content similar to yours will help establish your authority in your field, and generate additional links and traffic to your blog and website.

12. Reading the blogs of your competitors will also provide you with valuable details about their current performance and success, and may give you ideas on how to better the structure and approach of your organization and marketing campaigns.

A neglected blog serves absolutely no purpose. It is essential to frequently update your blog with lively, engaging information to keep your readers coming back for more.

3 Easy Steps To Recession-Proof Your Business Development

Posted by Smoothsale in Growth Topics

Many business people become discouraged upon reading the headlines in the newspapers. They see predicted doom and gloom and ask themselves, why bother?

Your attitude and belief system affect everything you do. By paying attention to what you can do to improve your business climate and believing you can make a difference and succeed, you will stand a far better chance for succeeding. The following guideline will help you through tougher economic times.

The three easy steps you can take to boost business during tough times are:

1. Get the education for your business that you were putting off.

2. Call a minimum of 10 people per day whose name is in your database and whom you met personally.

3. Create and promote new product on days the phone is quiet.

Education comes in many forms: attending a university class, webinar, tele-class, seminars and conventions. Networking alone will potentially put you in front of a contact who has a brand new idea for you to consider.

Belonging to a mastermind group with members who have complementary businesses can bring about new ideas and insight on how to fast track your goals. Hiring a coach familiar with your business and your goals is one of the quickest routes to success and will pay back exponentialy.

Any piece of education will get you to your goal far more quickly and effectively than going it alone. As you continue to educate yourself and grow in confidence and with new ideas, you begin attracting more people to your business.

Everyone in business must be dedicated to a database management system or CRM (Customer Relationship Management) as it is referred to by many. The best advice is to group your contacts according to where you met them. In this manner, it is easy to reconnect months later with familiarity including where you met.

When you find your phone traffic has slowed, make it a habit to call a minimum of 10 contacts listed in your personal database on a daily basis. Most often, the person on the other end will be so glad you thought of them, they will begin to brainstorm with you as to how you can help one another. As this becomes an everyday habit, your phone will begin ringing again.

The days that are particularly slow are the days when you can easily give focused thought to writing articles, compiling a manual, recording the podcasts you have been meaning to do, and writing a manuscript.

Should one or some of these already be completed, the slower days are perfect for finding resources that will help promote your product(s). You can offer a free tele-class or webinar for your contacts; develop an affiliate program and pay a reasonable commission; speak to groups about your business and how your products will assist others; or become a vendor at larger venues to show off your new creations.

As you can see, by implementing the 3 easy steps listed above, instead of complaining about slow times, you will create good times on your own terms.

Through the years of entrepreneurship, I have followed all of the advice above. In particular, I hired coaches for a few months at a time when I was ready to get to the next level and get there more quickly than figuring it out on my own. Their fees were earned back exponentially.

While newscasters are predicting the economic perfect storm, many of us who follow the advice above are looking at our best year yet.

Sex And The Genius Of Your Online Marketing Basics And Business

Posted by Hmigroupllc in Growth Topics

Alright, I was daring enough to put sex in my title, but what does it really have to do with your online business and online marketing basics? Would you believe everything? I am not going to tell you how to use sex sites and other off color things to build your business. I will show how sex and harnessing its power will and does change your power to achieve online marketing success.

Nothing here is new. In fact, Napoleon Hill has already covered the subject well. Long ago, Hill studied and recorded in ‘Think and Grow Rich’ the power of sex transmutation. Now what does that mean? Sex transmutation is taking your incredible sex drive and transmuting (or converting) it to highly productive performance.

You know from your personal life that sex is a powerful influence, combined with love, channeled to positive flow, and controlled it can turn mediocrity into genius. In life, sex has very constructive powers including the continuation of the human race, maintaining good physical health and emotional balance, and propelling mediocrity to genius. Are you getting the point yet, or maybe you dont believe me and think I am just pulling your leg.

Sex and genius; what do they have to do with each other? If you look through history, (which I won’t do here since this is a short article for online marketing success strategies) you can certainly name many examples of greatness you are familiar with. You can even review the people you admire today and identify the creative genius.

Something known to be common to their genius is the ability to use the ’sixth sense’ or creative ability harnessed within. Your creative ability is essential in any business especially in developing your online marketing basics. Super achievers in any field have learned to stimulate their mind in a way that makes their brain function at a higher than average intensity. Genius functions by concentrating on known qualities and factors (of an unfinished product or strategy) and keeping this mind picture for the subconscious to capture and flash the answer to the mind.

Maybe it sounds hokey to you, but maybe it’s because you haven’t allowed your mind to focus and capture your ideas for your true genius to emerge. Maybe you believe this is not an online marketing basic, but the fact is, you must start focusing on your genius (you do have it) as part of your online marketing strategy.

What does this have to do with sex? Your knowledge of historical biographies, biographical movies, and people you admire today will clearly demonstrate that love and sex create a powerful drive motivating the creative genius. Everyone you can think of that experienced incredible success has a love and sex story that spurred the genius.

Everyone has a sex drive and it can be positive if controlled and channeled with love, or negative if allowed to be the motivation without love. Napoleon Hill analyzed 25,000 people and found that the majority of people don’t learn to control their sex drive until about 40 years of age. This is also the same time that most people achieve their real genius, between 40 and 50 years of age.

Harnessing sex and love will explode your creative genius. The earlier in life you learn this, the sooner your online marketing basics will convert to a genius online marketing strategy. What do you do about it?

1. Stop ignoring sex and love, you have to have it, it is biological
2. Stop chasing sex alone, it will destroy you and prevent you from achieving your genius.
3. Use the powerful energy of sex in your portrayed confidence: your handshake, your tone of voice, your posture, and your clothing.
4. Allow love to exist with your sex, this combines spiritual power (love) with physical power (sex) and creates an incredible chemistry to put you in touch with your creativity.

When the power of sex and love is part of your online marketing basics, your creative genius becomes infinite. Your mind is no longer finite and your online business propels to the next level.

Advantages And Disadvantages In Business Structure - Is An S-Corp And An LLC Right For You?

Posted by Leonedward in Growth Topics

Advantages and Disadvantages in Business Structure of forming an s-corp and Limited Liability Corporation or LLC are discussed. Small and Home Businesses need to address structure at the onset and during growth…

Here we are going to go over an S-Corporation & An LLC.

Let’s face it, not everyone is into paperwork…and formation and maintenance of a corporate entity requires a fair amount of it. On the other hand, it’s a relatively small matter to form an LLC. According to Nolo’s Guide to Starting and Running a Small Business,
the relative simplicity and flexibility of the LLC make it the better choice. This is specially true if your business will hold property, such as real estate, that is likely to increase in value.

That statement about property is something to think about if your Internet business is an informational website that generates income on its own, such as CraigsList or a pay-per-use site. Digital property has the same potential to rise and fall in value as real property (just ask AltaVista).

Even if your website doesn’t generate income directly, if you’re getting a fair number of its per month - say, 100,000 or more - simply the domain name (if you have one) can be valuable.

Beyond the fact that forming an LLC is a one-step process requiring little in the way of red tape, you won’t have to worry about annual meetings and keeping minutes of those meetings in the way corporations must do.

Dividends of S-Corporations must be distributed among shareholders based on the number of shares they hold, regardless of whether or not they contributed to the business in any tangible way (in other words, You could put in the hours of actual labor while THEY sit around the pool waiting for the dividend check - which in theory, could mean your shareholders may wind up with the lion’s share of profits!).

With an LLC, profits and losses are divided up among the members in any way they see it. Finally, an LLC can be owned and operated by anyone, whether they are a citizen, a resident alien, or another person or corporate/business entity inside or outside of the U.S. An S-Corporation, on the other hand must be owned by a “natural person” who is a U.S. citizen or a legal resident - it cannot be owned by another corporation or person outside of the country.

Members of an S-Corporation pay Medicare and Social Security taxes only on money they actually receive as compensation in the form of wages or a salary - profits received as a dividend are exempt. In contrast, members of an LLC may be liable for these taxes on all profits made.

This is especially true if yours is an online business that provides professional services in the fields of health care, the law or engineering and design. If this is the case for you, it is a good idea to consult with your account or tax advisor on what is best for your small business.

Another caveat for licensed professionals residing in the State of California: an LLC may not even be an option for you, since California law prohibits LLCs from rendering professional services as an individual. Other than that, California charges LLCs a yearly tax of $800 just for doing business in that state, plus an additional annual LLC fee based on a percentage of total yearly income from all sources.

You now know the difference between each of these corporation types. Take your time in choosing the one that’s right for your business.

Biodiesel: The Pros And Cons

Posted by Gpatterson in Growth Topics

No company and/or industry today are immune from the escalating cost of crude oil. In an effort to address this growing concern, companies are seeking alternative, cost-effective ways to make every drop of fuel count. Although biodiesel is not a new type of fuel, its use has not been widely considered up until now. Today, its popularity is rapidly growing as an alternative to petroleum-based fuel that can be used in various blends in unmodified diesel engines.

Biodiesel comes from vegetable oils that undergo transesterification, a chemical process that extracts methyl or ethyl esters from the oil. This extraction can be used as fuel, either in a pure or blended form. The oils come from renewable, organic sources, such as coconut, soybean, grape seed, jatropha, or from waste vegetable oil.

In an effort to promote the development and use of alternative fuels, the United States government provides incentives and tax credits to producers and users of renewable and alternative fuel, such as biodiesel. For example, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has been drafting policies that will mandate private fleets and government vehicles to replace their vehicles with those that are ready for alternative fuel (read: diesel vehicles must be biodiesel ready).

The Pros - Biodiesel is commercially available at many pumps throughout the United States as a blend with petroleum diesel. Proponents say blends of up to 20 percent (B20) may be used in most conventional diesel engines, before costly modifications are needed. Advocates assert that there is no significant difference between biodiesel and petroleum diesel when it is blended properly. In fact they argue that biodiesel provides the same mileage, torque, and horsepower that petroleum diesel provides.

Proponents stress the many advantages of using biodiesel in vehicles. For starters, it is a cleaner fuel that reduces carbon dioxide emissions up to 80%. With new regulations, biodiesel has almost zero sulfur dioxide content. Studies also suggest that lower blends of biodiesel are more fuel efficient, which makes car engines last longer. In addition, biodiesel is less of a noise pollutant in diesel engines because of its high octane ignition rating. This means biodiesel can make cold starting easier since it heats up more easily than petroleum diesel.

The beneficiaries of biodiesel will be fleet vehicles and the public transportation sector. As oil prices have increased dramatically over the past year, biodiesel is becoming a more appealing alternative because it is cheaper to produce and is more environmentally sound. In addition, the price of biodiesel may be more stable than petroleum diesel. For example, lower blends of biodiesel (B2, B5, and B10) can cost less than petroleum diesel. B20 is sold at almost a similar price to petroleum diesel, but prices are expected to decrease as petroleum prices increase in the world market while local producers and supply of biodiesel increase.

The Cons - Opponents stress that biodiesel has different solvent properties that can break down deposits in the fuel lines where petrodiesel has been used. If and when gas stations start offering biodiesel, opponents say they will need to replace fuel lines. Opponents expand their argument by stating that biodiesel can also degrade rubber components, which means that rubber fuel pumps and seals will also need to be replaced with a synthetic rubber. This is not great for consumers whose warranty may not apply if they convert to biodiesel.

One of the problem advocates gloss over, however, is that although there are good number of biodiesel suppliers in some states, other states still do not have enough suppliers and producers of biodiesel to justify the switch to biodiesel vehicles. Currently, northern central states like Minnesota, Michigan, North and South Dakota, Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois, Kansas, and Missouri have several suppliers of biodiesel. In other states, only selected suppliers provide biodiesel to local pumps, suggesting that the proposed government mandates do not realistically consider the impact and consequences of this mandate on states where suppliers and producers are low.

Investors are quick to point out that there must be a growing demand in other states in order for businesses to justify investing in distribution facilities in other locations. That said, with petroleum prices expected to continue to rise, proponents believe that consumers will consider switching to biodiesel and other alternative fuel, thus creating a demand. With rising demand, gas stations are expected to install more pumps that carry biodiesel.

While the conversion to using more biofuels appears to be inevitable, some question how the conversion will be executed. Timing and associated costs of the changes are still not clear. There is also the issue about the direct and indirect costs of converting compounded by the question of which groups will benefit and which groups will suffer. With congressional leadership favoring the acceleration of greener energy that clearly benefits their constituents and lobbyists, there will definitely be winners and losers.

In the final analysis, the biodiesel debate points to the urgency for businesses to begin planning NOW for the inevitability of a greener world, with its intended and unintended consequences. Will you be prepared?

The Number One Killer Of Information Marketing Success And How To Avoid It

Posted by Calebscoville in Growth Topics

So many coaches and consultants get into their fields because they want to help people. They love what they do and they want to do a great job.

This is a good thing. It’s important to be passionate about your work and care about the quality of what you put out in the world.

But this can also lead major problems.

Along with this passion for excellence comes a natural affinity to get caught up in perfectionism.

I’ve seen so many clients, friends and colleagues get 95% done with products or marketing materials in a matter of days or weeks and then stall for months to get that last 5% worked out.

They proofread everything, re record audio or video because they don’t like the way they sound or look or don’t think the quality is high enough.

They ask for second, third and fourth opinions only to receive conflicting answers which tear them apart inside and make them doubt the whole thing.

In the end these poor friends of mine end up spending countless hours and tons of their energy and money on things that truly don’t help them make more money or attract more clients (which is usually the goal of new products or marketing campaigns.)

By the time they finish the product or marketing campaigns (that is, IF they ever finish them,) they often aren’t as relevant to the marketplace since so much has changed in the time they wasted perfecting them.

This happened to my client Allison. She had a new information product that was so close to completion. I was helping her make some edits and add some finishing touches, but even without my help, the content was valuable and I knew it would resonate with her prospects and clients.

But when the time came for the final review process, she got cold feet and decided to re record everything because she didn’t like the way her voice sounded in the initial delivery.

I told her redoing it wasn’t necessary. The quality of the content was there and the audio was audible and professional sounding.

She still went ahead and re recorded the whole thing. By the time her product was ready to go, she had spent hundreds of extra dollars on my time, had missed out on potential sales and had wasted many hours of her own time which could have been focused on more fruitful efforts like marketing her product, servicing her clients or simply doing something else she enjoyed more.

It’s natural to want to make what you create perfect, but before you spend hours taking something from 90% to 100% of its perceived potential, ask yourself this question:

“Am I doing this for my clients or for my own ego?”

Frankly, many people are more focused on what they want their product or marketing materials to sound or look like rather than what their target market wants.

The longer you hang onto an idea without implementing it, the less viable it becomes. It’s better to implement and learn from your mistakes than to obsess over it for weeks or months that you could be focused on more important things.

This principle of implementation and not obsessing over perfection can be applied to almost any area of your business, but it is especially relevant to information marketing.

My most successful clients aren’t those who spend hours and hours reviewing every single piece of the material they write or record. They are the ones who leverage professionals like audio editors, copywriters, transcriptionists and other members of their marketing teams to work out any kinks in their campaigns or products before release.

The next time you feel the urge to perfect something that may be just as effective as-is, ask yourself, “Am I adding value or just wasting time?”

Caleb Scoville helps consultants, trainers, coaches and service professionals, multiply their impact with information products and audio and video online marketing strategies.
