You Want An Ebay Business?

Posted by Pnnetbuy in Home Business

So you are looking to start an Ebay Business. Having more than 430,000 people in the United States alone are working full or part time on Ebay. It may be easier to start a business than you think.

If you feel Ebay is just a novelty item or low value trinket type outlet, you should take a look again. An business powered by Ebay can sell anything from trinkets to antiques and automobiles. The five highest categories were automobiles and auto supplies, consumer electronics, computers, clothes and accessories, books, movies and music.

Ebay was started in 1995 and has become the worlds biggest online auction place selling all kinds of products and services. There is about 1,000 dollars in sales every second. There are 135 million registered users in 32 countries. You can see your business will have a large exposure or audience.

Before you start with an Ebay business you should decide if you want to be a full time business or just a part time hobby. Do you want to work from your home or set up an outside office to work from? Do you want to work on your own or do you want to have employees? Do you want to become a Power Seller or a Trade Assistant?

It is a good idea to practice some before officially starting your business. You can try different headlines and descriptions on a small scale. Practice taking pictures and try different listing formats. Just sell one or two items at a time at first to get comfortable and confident. This all will make your chances of success much greater when you take your Ebay business to the next level.

Getting set up with Ebay just takes a few minutes. You will need to supply them with your name, address, telephone number, a credit card and or a checking account. This is used for identification and payment of fees purposes. When setting up your Ebay business you may also want to open a PayPal account. This service is owned by Ebay and allows people to use credit cards or their checking accounts to pay you. It also eliminates the need to have a costly merchant account.

When you set up your business remember to set up your “About Me” page, which is a free eBay feature that allows you to promote your business and yourself.

When you start your business you may want to register with Federal, State, and local tax authorities. You also may want to form a corporation or LLC to protect yourself from any legal liability.

Your soon to be successful business now needs something to sell. This can be the most difficult challenge you will face with your auction business. You need to pick something that you know about, has a profit potential, and is not hard to photograph or ship. Before you put something up for sale look to see what similar items sold for and ask, can I make money with this? A key point to remember what ever it is you offer it would need to fill a need.

If your Ebay business makes it convenient to buy you have much better chance of success. This means your Ebay business should sell like items. If you sell CD’s then having CD racks or players would be a good combination. The more compatible items you have on sale the better your chances of success. People would much rather purchase what is needed at one sd

After you have gotten comfortable with auction formats, and other aspects of your business remember not to get complacent. You will want to read about any new features, keep in touch with your customers, and also be aware of what your competition is doing. If you are not growing and changing your not taking your Ebay business to its full potential and maximizing you’re earning potential. You will not only be more successful with your Ebay powered business but you will have more fun.

Marketing Your Small Business

Posted by Edmondj in Small Business

If the idea of marketing your small business falls somewhere between flossing your teeth and cleaning the toilet, you’re not alone. As entrepreneurial as any small business owner has to be, there’s something about sales and marketing that can be intimidating for even the most ambitious business person.

And while marketing is obviously a “big deal”, many times the marketing of a small business is put on the back burner somewhere after buying a new coffee pot for your office and coming up with some cool business cards.

Yeah, those business cards count as marketing - sort of. But it’s no exaggeration to say that how you go about marketing your business will make or break it, which means that marketing your small business calls for more than just a passing thought.

Research, Research, Research

The best place to start with small business marketing is perhaps the easiest. Research - and lots of it!

You can start by looking into your competition and finding out what they’re doing to get the word out about their business. Pay special attention to those businesses that seem to be industry leaders in your market space.

What are they doing that’s contributing to their success? How are they increasing brand recognition for their business? What are the things that are most appealing about their website, sales collateral, and other advertising?

Take notes as you go. Call the company and ask for literature. Cruise their websites for ideas.

The best part? This part of your marketing plan can be from your desk with a nice cup of coffee from that new coffee maker!

A Little Reality?

It’s easy to get carried away with big ideas for small business marketing. Now more than ever, there are a lot of cool ways to get the word out about your business. From Flash-enabled websites to high-end, professionally designed logos, you could easily spend thousands and thousands of dollars marketing your small business.

But you do want to give it some thought - a lot of it, in fact!

Small business marketing is kind of like shopping for a house. It’s a good idea to identify your budget first so you don’t fall in love with something you can’t afford!

Sit down in the early days of your business and decide how much you can afford to spend marketing your small business. At this stage in the game, it will be difficult to do this too far in advance, so just figure out a budget for the first 3-6 months. Hopefully the small business marketing strategies you choose will be so successful you’ll have even more to spend later.

But for now, let’s just get your business off the ground!

Divide and Conquer

Now that you have a “big picture” number in mind, it’s time to divide it up. You might start with the obvious, like business cards if your business is the kind that needs them, or internet advertising if that is more suited to your type of business.

From there, you can prioritize the things you “have to have” versus the things you’d “like to have”, and make compromises accordingly.

Stay Flexible

You know that old saying, “The only sure thing in life is that things will continue to change”? Well, it was never truer than for a small business. In the beginning you’ll likely have all kinds of ideas about how things will turn out and about what will work best. But it’s next to impossible to foresee at the outset the future of any small business.

So remember, slow and steady wins the race. Take things a day at a time, review the results from your existing small business marketing measures, and be willing to make adjustments as you go.

With a little luck - and a good small business marketing plan - you’ll have even more money to spend as your business grows!

Wisdom From The Past That Works Today

Posted by Glenn1525 in Advertising

There was a salesman back in the 1940’s by the name of Elmer Wheeler. He was a very good salesman. He sharpened his skills by researching how words affect potential customers in various selling situations.

In fact, he tested over 19 million situations where the choice of different words could effect the outcome of the sale. One of the things he discovered makes a tremendous difference in revenue generated from small transactions. This principal can be used in nearly any situation if you analyze the choice of words used, whether written or spoken.

This technique is used today in many selling situations, one you are probably familiar with is the fast food business. McDonald’s is probably the most familiar. When you order a sandwich the order taker has been trained to respond with, “Fries with that.” That little phrase has sold billions of pounds of potatoes.

That technique is called the, “upsell”, today. Another example is when you order a drink with the sandwich the order taker will ask if you want a large drink with that instead of giving you the choice of large or small. That small difference results in a large increase in the bottom line profits for the franchise.

When Elmer Wheeler tested that very thing on five thousand customers he discovered that 7 out of 10 times the customer took the large drink. To illustrate the power of this concept to effect the profits let’s do a little calculation. A fast food operation will probably sell an average of at least 500 drinks a day. If the difference in price of a large drink over a small drink is 50 cents, then 500 drinks at 7 out of 10 would mean that 350 of those drinks produced 50 cents more per drink. That’s $175.00 more income per day. $175.00 time 365 days is $63,875.00 per year! Not bad for simply using the right choice of words.

This idea of using the right words is extremely effective in all selling situations, not just fast food restaurants. A very good example that applies to Internet marketing is the little three line ads used for adwords advertising. In fact, there’s also a good reason for the small ads. It has been determined that the attention span of the average web user is only about long enough to read a three line ad. Any longer and they lose interest, pretty amazing isn’t it?

So, if you are writing ads for adwords, you need to test and test again to find the right words. It won’t always be apparent, in fact you’ll probably be surprised what works the best.

The basic premise is that if you don’t ask them if they want the large drink they may not order the large drink or if you don’t ask them if they want fries, they may not think they want them. In other words if you don’t ask you may not get.

And if the words you are using in adwords ads are not triggering the response you want, then you need to test until you find the words that do trigger that response..That is if you want to increase the bottom line.

Key Ingredients To Creating A Viral Product

Posted by Laserbeam in Advertising

I created my first viral product by accident several years ago. I wrote a simple e-book describing how to set up an online business. The e-book is “Virtual Vending Machines”.

I offered the book with resale rights, meaning that anyone that purchased the book could also sell it and keep all the profits. However, I put a small announcement in the book stating that I would gladly set up their website to sell “Virtual Vending Machines” for a fee. To this day I still make money from that link! Yet, I’ve never had to do anything else to get those customers.

Now, if only I had known then what I know now I could be profiting even more!

So, how do you a create a viral marketing product?

We are going to focus on a very specific type of viral marketing tool - informational products. This course is a prime example. Think of some piece of information that the people you are trying to attract would be interested in.

Let’s assume, for example, that you are selling diet pills. Your goal is to get people to visit your website, possibly sign up for your mailing list, and (of course) buy your products.

So, you are going to write a brief report that would interest people trying to lose weight. This might include some recipes, a workout plan, and even some other helpful guidelines. You need to give your report a great, attention-getting title like The Incredible 7-Day Weight Loss Plan.

When you write your report you need to put several things into the report.

First, you are going to need to include links to your website. These should be links to additional information, or, if you talk about your product, they could be links to that product. Links to other recipes or videos demonstrating the workout routine would also work. This gets people to your website. You could also add a link for people to sign up for your newsletter or even a brief email course of some sort (this gets people on your list).

These links could also be to related products - products from other people that offer an affiliate program. Simply sign up for their affiliate program and include that link in report.

Next, you’ll want to give people an incentive to pass along (or even sell) your report. Here are some good ways to get people pass along your report:

1. Allow people to sell your report and keep all the profits.

2. If you have an affiliate program you can let people customize your report with their affiliate links. That way they will earn a profit on each sale you make.

3. Customize a copy of the report with a name or website name so that the report is “sponsored by” the person giving it away.

Now that you’ve got an idea for your product, you actually need to produce it.

By far, the fastest and easiest way to get your Viral Marketing program off the ground is to create a PDF. Simply type up your report in your favorite word processor. Then, you can use a product like PDF995 to turn it into a PDF file. The software is completely free and it’s easy to use. Be sure to get the PDF Edit program as well so you can add hyperlinks to your PDF.

Creating a viral product can be one of the best, and least expensive, forms of advertising your website. With nothing more than a word processor and some informative information about the product or service you offer you can quickly create your own viral marketing success story.

The Right Floor Mats For Your Business

Posted by Courtney in Business

Having the appropriate mats for your business is more important than you might think. There are many custom and specialty mats that can actually make your facility safer, cleaner, more attractive and more comfortable.

Entrance mats can make a first and lasting impression on customers. Custom mats can be enhanced with your business logo, name or greeting. Beveled edges allow a gradual, safe transition from the floor to the mat, minimizing tripping. Doormats can assure that much of the soil on shoes and boots stays outside your facility. Your floors will be cleaner, drier and safer, reducing risk and maintenance. Look for mats with slip-resistant surfaces that will clean shoes and hold the dirt for easy removal. Exterior mats can be equipped with scrubbers, scrapers or stiff brushes to remove sand, mud or grass from shoes. For safety, purchase mats that do not slip or curl around the edges.

Disposable sticky mats lift dirt and debris from shoes and wheels without transferring the adhesive. These low profile mats feature an adhesive backing that adheres to the floor for safety. Made in multiple layers, the top sheet can be peeled off to reveal a clean one below.

Specialized mats can benefit the health of your workers in a couple ways. First, mats can reduce the noise level in factories. Where noise reaches harmful levels, rubber mats can be used to absorb sound, saving workers from permanent hearing loss, headaches, and added stress. The cushioning effect of anti-fatigue mats can make work more comfortable for those who must stand for extended times. The cushioning reduces back, leg and foot stress, reducing fatigue and increasing productivity.

In electronic and computer assembly areas, anti-static mats can be used to eliminate electrical shocks. Static-dissipative rubber mats repel sparks. For working around high-voltage electronics, mats should insulate against charges up to 30,000 volts and resist flames. Mats that repel sparks and hot metal shards provide safe footing for welders.

Mats used in oily, wet and slippery work areas should drain liquids and elevate workers to dry areas. Select mats include aggressive grip particles impregnated into fibers to provide slip resistance. Elevated safety bars on top surfaces can add traction in slick areas. Drainage holes that do not trap debris and allow for liquids to flow through provide safe, comfortable footing in wet areas.

Bubble mats that feature polyethylene-nylon air bubbles combine the comfort of standing on air with oil, coolant, solvent and water absorbency. They are ideal for wet and dry conditions. With plenty of cushiony support, bubble mats can also be used to lie on while working under equipment or for kneeling.

Environmentalists can look for rubber mats made from recycled tires. There are several brands available.

Before purchasing mats for your business, consider the type of work being done and conditions of the environment. There are many choices available to suit your special needs.
